Community Activities
We actively encourage the community to use our facilitites here at Holy Trinity. Find out what we have to offer. These are some of the community groups that are based here.

Prestwood Preschool

Prestwood Preschool Group is ‘building a strong foundation for a happy and independent future’  and runs for 35 weeks a year during term time.

It is open for four and a half days a week (not Friday afternoons) and includes full day cover for those who prefer this. Sessions are 9.15 to 12.00 and 12.40 to 3.20.The preschool offers 26 children per session a comprehensive curriculum including some group time with an adult (1-6), some whole group times and lots of individual play in a well set up, planned environment. Independent play is encouraged and supported by an adult where necessary or when requested by the child.

The preschool employs extra staff over and above the required ratios to ensure the children have the support they need. The children can begin at 2 years old (if spaces are available) and can stay until they start their first formal school setting at 5. The preschool is very popular both in the village and beyond and many parents recommend us to other parents. The preschool recently received a very positive report from OfSTED  and County inspectors.

Dragonflies Parent Bereavement Support
Dragonflies

Set up by parents, the group is a safe, friendly place to share thoughts and experiences following the death of a child.

The group operates free of charge and refreshments are provided.

Linking with other support services in the area, the group can put parents in touch with other helpful organisations including counselling.

The group has a good selection of appropriate books that parents can borrow.

The age of the child or adult child bears no relevance nor does the length of time that has passed since the loss.

Supporting each other through this painful journey of grief is a unique gift as no others can fully understand a parent’s loss.

The group operates the first Monday of every month except bank holidays 7.30pm - 9.30pm at Holy Trinity church cottage, Prestwood.

Although "Dragonflies" is sponsored by the Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund, all parents are welcome, not just those who have lost to cancer.

Life Club

lifeclublogo

Life Clubs are weekly 90 minute structured workshops in which we explore different life themes and questions. This is your 'time-out' to focus on life - goals and dreams, plans, challenges and problems and give you a clearer way of thinking.  We use a range of simple 'tools' based on 'life coaching' techniques and principles designed by the Life Club founder, Nina Grunfeld.  You can find out more about her and how Clubs work (and the Club held at the Holy Trinity) at www.lifeclubs.co.uk.

The sort of questions Club workshops address are:-

  • What can I do to make my life more exciting?
  • How can I improve relationships with my family, friends and work colleagues?
  • Why do I let my lack of confidence hold me back?

Is there a way to make my work/life balance more consistent and less stressful?

And the 'big one' -

  • What do I really want out of life?

You are invited to come along for a 'taster' session at the special rate of £10 (a saving of £5) any Wednesday evening throughout the year - it is guaranteed you will leave with your batteries re-charged and a set of achievable goals for the following week, month, year and hopefully life!
