FUNERALS LOGO RGBWe’re here for you

At Holy Trinity, Prestwood, we offer a dignified and personal Church of England service in the heart of your loved one’s community. You can give thanks for the unique person you knew and loved in a way that gives you comfort and hope.
Anyone with a parish connection, regardless of whether they are a regular church goer or not, is entitled to a funeral at Holy Trinity. We can help you work out if you or your loved one has a connection to our parish.
And with the option to hold the reception in the church after the service, we can provide the perfect setting for reflection and remembrance without any additional worry or complicated arrangements.

Whether you are planning a funeral for a loved one, or even thinking about your own future wishes, we’re here for you.

The funeral service

A funeral at Holy Trinity, Prestwood offers a lot of freedom to reflect on a person’s life. No two funerals are ever the same. We understand the way in which you remember a loved one can take many different forms and we can incorporate them into the service including:

  • Live or recorded religious and non-religious music
  • Readings, poems and prayers
  • Eulogies and tributes
  • Items of special meaning
  • Videos, slides and photos
  • Tweets and Facebook posts

There are none of the time constraints or associations that come with a crematorium – indeed, a funeral at Holy Trinity can be small or large, formal or informal. We can even live stream the funeral for people who cannot be there.

Our Rector, the Reverend Deiniol Heywood, or one of our team, will meet with you to hear about the person you knew and loved and will discuss ways in which we can help you give thanks in a very special and unique way.

handsThe final farewell

After a funeral at Holy Trinity, you can choose to either have a burial in our churchyard or a cremation. Many families who are having a cremation choose to have a committal in our lychgate. We say our final farewell to our loved ones at Holy Trinity and the funeral directors take your loved one to the crematorium. This means you are not tied to the crematorium’s availability and you are less likely to lose some mourners.

The reception

At this difficult time, organising a separate venue for the reception can be very stressful and a source of unnecessary worry. Busy hotels and pubs can leave little room for mourning and celebrating a loved one undisturbed. Travelling between two separate locations can also make it difficult for older members of your group to attend, especially when parking is limited.
Holy Trinity can offer the perfect space to hold both the funeral and reception - without any of the issues separate venues can bring. After the service, we can rearrange the church to accommodate your group, whether it be small and intimate or a larger gathering. Our local caterers will meet with you to discuss your needs and can provide everything from simple refreshments to a full finger buffet.

We can discuss all of this when we meet but you can always contact the Church Office to discuss your wishes and requirements if you need to decide quickly.

You might find this prayer helpful. Anyone can pray.

Loving God,
the shadow of death has fallen over me
because someone I love has died.
Be with me through this time,
comfort me with your presence,
and let me see the light of hope,
for you promise eternal life
through Jesus Christ your son,
who died and rose again. Amen.
