Dick Rivett | HTP

Dick Rivett was admitted to Stoke Mandeville with blood clots on his lungs early week commencing 10th August. At this point there was nothing further and it was believed these were the result of a fall he had following cataract surgery which injured a rib. Following further tests it was discovered that these were as a result of pancreatic cancer, with both primary and secondary cancers detected. His prognosis is terminal, and doctors have indicated a 3-6 month expectancy. He was discharged on 16th August and will be recuperating with his daughter in Dorset as he waits for the clots to dissipate naturally. It is his hope that he will return to Prestwood after this time if he is able to live on his own.
We are sure this will be a shock to us all, as it is to him and he is grateful for all the prayers that will be coming his way over the next weeks and months. He will miss being an active member of our community as much as we will miss him.
We will update you as and when any further information becomes available.
Please hold Dick and his family in your prayers.

African Village Support | Marie Cates

AVSMarie Cates, who was the founder of African Village Support, which both churches supported for 5 years through the Lent Appeal, has sadly died.  After a long illness, Marie remained a beacon of inspiration and positivity, guiding the charity with her wisdom right up until the end.

Through her kindness, tireless fundraising, and hard work, she built more than homes and projects: she built hope. She believed that every act of generosity, no matter how small, could change a life, and she lived by that.

The trustees of the charity are committed to carrying on the work that Marie put in place in Uganda, and so, if you would like to make a donation in memory of Marie, we will ensure it is directed to a special project she would have been proud of. You can do so via this link: AVS JustGiving. Any messages of condolence will be passed on to her family and fellow trustees.

Thank you.

Preserve Making | HTP

The Holy Trinity Preserves Team are looking for your help and support, please.

Have you found some fruit / veg lurking at the bottom of your freezer that you had forgotten about? If you don’t need it, please consider donating it to a member of the preserve team to turn into jams, chutneys, etc. to sell.

Join the team! We could always do with more people in the team. Whether one jar or a hundred – donations are always welcome. All I need is the full jar(s) and a list of ingredients and I will label and prettify the jar.

Not a gardener nor a preserve maker? There are people amongst you who contribute by donating towards the cost of sugar, and other ingredients. It is amazing how much the cost of things has increased over the last few years! Jars! – clean, with labels removed where possible please.

Do you fancy fruit picking? Teams will be needed throughout the summer months, different days for different fruit. If you are interested and think you can spare some time, please let Jean know with available dates.

Last year we raised over £2,500 towards church funds selling the jams, marmalades and chutneys. So far this year, June, we have reached a grand total of £2,000 and between us made over 500 jars!

Go to Hildreth’s to buy your supplies. If you can’t make it there, do ask Jean, we can always sell direct.

Support our work with Acts 435

We work in the community with Acts 435. Acts 435 is a giving website that allows people to give money directly to others, and 100% of what is donated via Acts 435 goes directly to those in need. When so many people need so much help giving to charities and good causes can sometimes feel overwhelming and hard. Acts 435 puts people who want to help in touch with people who are in need, through a network of churches and local charities. Acts 435 enables virtual, online giving for specific needs.

If you would like to be notified by email when a local Acts 435 is made by us, please let one of the clergy know.

Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. They do this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.

We have had a team on Kiva for about ten years. In that time we have:

  • Loaned over $20,000.00
  • Made 875 different loans

Currently there are 15 team members. You can be one of them! By lending as little as $25 on Kiva, you can be part of the solution and make a real difference in someone’s life. 100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes to funding loans.
