Vacancy Update | 8 September 2025

On Saturday, 6 September 2025, the Parochial Church Councils of St Mary Magdelene Great Hampden and Holy Trinity Prestwood convened with Rev Asa Humphries, Parish Development Adviser, and Rev Sally Moring, Area Dean, to initiate the recruitment process for a new Rector. Asa will provide guidance throughout this procedure, from advertising the position to shortlisting and selecting an appropriate candidate. The initial task involves preparing our Benefice Profile (for both Parishes). The profile will serve as an introduction for potential incumbents. A ‘Section 11’ meeting was held on Saturday to appoint Parish Representatives for each Parish. Along with Bishop Dave or Archdeacon Gavin (who will assume the position in November), as well as the Area Dean or Lay Deanery Chair, these representatives will participate in shortlisting and interviewing the candidates. Val Gristwood and Roger Craft were elected for Great Hampden and Hannah Goldsmith and Robert Hart for Prestwood. The PCCs now need to start work on the Profile for the Benefice. We are hoping to have finalised the Profile by the end of November. We will keep you informed of progress and in the meantime please pray for the right candidate to respond to us and lead our churches into the future.
